About this trip
This is the longest day we run from Agadir, about eight and a half hours from the 08:30 pickup, and it covers a lot of ground south of the city. The vehicle is a 4x4, which matters once the tarmac runs out.
The first stop is a pottery workshop where the ceramics are thrown and painted by hand. From there you follow the coast to the fishermen's caves cut into the cliffs above Savage Beach, then take the off-road track along the Souss River, a stretch where bald ibis, flamingos and marbled ducks are sometimes seen. Tiznit comes next: a walled town of red ramparts with a souk known for its silver work.
Lunch is tajine and couscous in a Berber house, with seasonal fruit and mint tea afterwards. Then the Rasmouka dunes, the patch of sand everyone here calls the Mini Sahara, where a camel is waiting and there is time to walk out on the ridges. On the way back the road climbs to a viewpoint over the Youssef Ibn Tachfine dam and its reservoir before the run home to Agadir.

How the day runs
Hotel pick-up (08:30)
A 4x4 collects you from your hotel in Agadir, Taghazout or Tamraght and heads south out of the city.

On to Savage Beach, where caves have been cut into the cliff face and the Atlantic runs right up to the rock.
The coast track (11:00)

Tiznit (12:00)
Inside the red walls of the old town, with time in the medina and the souk that made Tiznit's name for silver.
Berber lunch (13:15)
Tajine and couscous at a local house, with seasonal fruit and mint tea to finish.
The Rasmouka dunes (14:30)
Free time on the sand, a camel ride, and enough space to walk out on your own.
Youssef Ibn Tachfine dam (15:30)
A high viewpoint over the reservoir and the green plain below it.
The drive back (16:15)
North through the countryside toward Agadir.
