The experience
What to expect
The heat of the day is gone by six in the evening, which is the right time to be on a camel. This is the sunset version of our camel ride, and it ends at a table rather than at the hotel gate.
You ride out through eucalyptus and across the scrub toward the Souss river, where the light goes orange and the birds come in. The pace is slow and there is time to look around. Camels are measured about walking; nobody is asking them to hurry.
Back at the ranch there is mint tea and a barbecue, cooked while you sit. You are dropped off afterwards, usually around half past nine. It suits anyone who wants the ride without giving up an entire day.
