The experience
About this trip
Taghazout sits north of Agadir and Taroudant sits inland from it, so this is one of the longer transfers we run. We collect from the village ahead of the city hotels and the day stretches to roughly nine and a half hours. The pace settles down once the driving is done.
The route runs through the Souss Valley, with a stop where the goats stand in the argan branches to feed. In Taroudant a guide walks you along the red mud walls, which circle the town for about seven kilometres, and then through the two souks, where silver, leather and carpets are the trade and the prices sit lower than on the coast.
Lunch is at a kasbah above Tiout, with tajine, couscous and mint tea served while you look down over the palms. After eating, a local guide takes you into the oasis and its irrigation channels, and there is a donkey ride for anyone who fancies it. We have you back in Taghazout by early evening.
