About this trip
Taghazout empties out at sunset, when everyone drifts down to the water to watch. This trip takes you the other way, up the coast to the Timlalin dunes, to watch it from the top of a sand slope instead.
The drive north is short. You stop at Aghroud for the painted houses and their murals, then walk into one of the limestone canyons with the guide before the sand comes into view.
Boards and a lesson are provided, and no experience is needed. The schedule is built around the light, so you are on the dunes as the sun drops behind the cliffs. We bring you back to Taghazout, Tamraght or Agadir afterwards.

A walk on foot with the guide through the limestone gorge and its dry riverbed.

18:15 — On the boards
Boards out and a quick lesson, then runs down toward the water.
19:45 — Sunset
The sun goes down behind the cliffs and the whole slope turns gold.
20:00 — The drive home
Back down the coast road past the surf beaches, in the dark.

Where are the sand dunes near Taghazout?
Timlalin, sometimes written Timlaline, sits on the coast just north of the village. The sand runs right down to the cliffs above the ocean.
Do I need experience to sandboard?
No. You get a board and a short lesson, and the guide starts you on the easier slopes. Falling over is part of it and the sand is soft.
What time does the dunes trip leave?
