About this trip
Taghazout sits at the northern end of this coastline and the Mini Sahara route runs south, so the day opens with a run along the coast and through Agadir before the landscape opens up. That is the honest trade: a little longer in the vehicle each way, and a village to come back to instead of a hotel strip.
South of the city the day unfolds as it always does. A pottery workshop where the ceramics are made by hand, the fishermen's caves at Savage Beach, the off-road track along the Souss River, and then the red walls and silver souk of Tiznit.
Lunch is tajine and couscous at a Berber house, followed by the Rasmouka dunes for a camel ride and time on the sand, and a last stop at the viewpoint over the Youssef Ibn Tachfine dam. You are back in Taghazout in the early evening, in time for dinner in the village.

How the day runs
Hotel pick-up (08:30)
A 4x4 collects you from your hotel in Agadir, Taghazout or Tamraght and heads south out of the city.

Watch the potters throw and paint traditional ceramics, and see how the kilns work.

On to Savage Beach, where caves have been cut into the cliff face and the Atlantic runs right up to the rock.
The coast track (11:00)
Off-road along the shoreline and the Souss River. Bald ibis, flamingos and marbled ducks are sometimes seen on the water.
Tiznit (12:00)
Inside the red walls of the old town, with time in the medina and the souk that made Tiznit's name for silver.
Berber lunch (13:15)
Tajine and couscous at a local house, with seasonal fruit and mint tea to finish.
The Rasmouka dunes (14:30)
Free time on the sand, a camel ride, and enough space to walk out on your own.
Youssef Ibn Tachfine dam (15:30)
A high viewpoint over the reservoir and the green plain below it.
The drive back (16:15)
North through the countryside toward Agadir.
